Top 5 Fathers or Father Figures

With today being father's day, I find it most appropriate to count down the best fathes in film.
5.Darth Vader
Yes. You might be saying that Darth Vader is not the best father in the galaxy but he is still a father. When I say best father for Darth Vader I mean he is the best villain father. Darth Vader is not a very nice dad he is still a pretty cool guy. His choice in the dark side did make his relationship with Luke a little bumpy. But he did set a what not to do role model for Luke, who learned from his mistakes and chose another path.
4.Marlin
No this is not the all famous wizard. But the clown fish.  The clown fish that swam across the whole ocean to find his son. Marlin was not proud of his son. So when Nemo got captured it took a lot of determination from Marlin to swim across the globe to find his son.
3.Gru
This is a wannabe villain. So when he decides to adopt 3 girls just for his plan, that is not very father like. But he develops a love for the girls. He does everything he can to make sure they are always alright. He is also father to over hundred minions.
2.Uncle Ben
Yes this is not a father. He is an Uncle who is basically a father. He has taken care of Peter from a very young age. He said the most famous quote in comic book history "With great power comes great responsibility." That made Peter use his powers for the good of others. Not for him self. He taught Peter a very valuable lesson.
1.Jonathan Kent
Yes. My number one spot belongs to Superman's earthly father. Jonathan found Kal-El(Superman) in a big space ship. All of his years he taught Clark how to deal with his unique abilities. He made Clark fell comfortable on this earth.
Honorable mentions
  • Henry Jones from Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
  • Mr.Incredible/Bob Parr
If you feel like I missed any father leave it in the comments

Now You See Me

This film which is a mixture between Oceans 11 and The Prestige was truly magical. This film fallows 4 street illusionist by the names of Atlas (Played by Jesse Eisenberg) who is the leader and the main showman of the group, Merrit (Portrayed by Woody Harrelson)who is the smart aleck of the group along with being the mentalist, Henley (Played by Isla Fisher) the escape artist and the only female of the group, and last but certainly not least Jack(Portrayed by Dave Franco) the skill full one and the real "outlaw" of the group. These 4 "illusionist" who were first solo acts came together and they made a magic group called "The 4 horsemen." The 4 horsemen try to pull of the ultimate heist, and by heist I mean bank heist. During their shows they rob banks from all over the world and reward their audiences with the money. With F.B.I. agent Dylan Rhodes (Played by Mark Ruffalo)and is Interpol partner Alma Dray try to fallow the magicians/illusionist and try to stop them from robbing any more banks. But with there targets being illusionist they are always 1-7 steps behind. So the F.B.I. recruit a television star by the name of Thaddeus Bradley (Played by the awesome Morgan Freeman) whose main job is figure out how magicians do their tricks. The films creative idea is one of a kind. Robbing banks by using magic. That's why its in my top 3 movies of the year so far. The first 5 minutes of the film establish everybody's character. Each minute you see each illusionist doing what they do best. Atlas with his illusions, Merrit with his mentalist skills, Henley being the escape artist, and Jack being a master of using his hands to trick people into thinking he is bending a spoon with his mind. The first 5 minutes makes you know what will come from the characters later on.  If it's there personality or there skill the quick character development made this film really enjoyable from the first minute. They introduced the characters so quickly because the pacing goes by really fast. The 4 horsemen all meet up for a period for about 5 minutes in the film. Then it skips to one year later. What the heck! You did such a good job at showing us each individual character develop, but not the whole group develop. But there chemistry was fantastic. They could've paced the film a little better. Show us how they got the job in show business. But when it picks up again is there first show as a group with the last trick in their show. That's when the first heist takes place. Then the movie picks up and never drops again. You see the 4 horsemen do there trick. Then while the F.B.I. tries to run around and catch them, it gives you time to think about how they did it. It is sort of like a guessing game. They did a really good job of making you think of how they did it. Then it goes to Agent Rhodes and his partner along with Thaddeus. After a long time of the audience thinking, Thaddeus tells you how they did it. The big reveal. And you might call your self stupid for not catching how they did it. And that's basically the whole movie. The 4 horsemen, pulling of incredible heist, giving you time to think while the F.B.I. are always staying 5,6,7 steps behind. Then Thaddeus telling us how they did it. It really only has 3 elements to it. But they elaborate on it. They make it exciting. The best part, they left it open for a sequel.

Over all this movie was phenomenal. Very exciting, it gets the audience fully engaged. It had some minor flaws with the pacing. But everything else from the witty one-liners, to the incredible acting on everyone's part, to the creative script. I give this film a 4.5/5, 9.0/ 10 or a high A-.
Go out and see this movie as soon as you can!

Angry Assassins

2 not so big stuff in the world of movie news happened over the past couple of days.
The first one is the Angry Birds movie has a writer. Let me repeat that. The ANGRY BIRDS movie has a writer. A couple of weeks ago, a couple of studios were arguing over who got the rights to make a Angry Birds movie. Let me repeat that, STUDIOS WERE ARGUING OVER WHO GOT THE RIGHTS TO MAKE A ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE. Who in their right mind would argue over rights to make a movie where the characters don't talk! And there is not a story to carry an hour and a half movie. Pigs stealing birds eggs and the birds trying to get them back will make a boring movie if it's over 5 minutes. But Sony studios won that fight and green lit the movie. They must have been on drugs the moment they made that decision. They have hired a writer Jon Vitti who was wrote 2 episodes of The Office, the first 2 Alvin and the Chipmunks movies, The Simpsons Movie, and 25 of The Simpsons TV show episodes. Ya he might have done some decent work in the past but, he is going to have to work a whole lot harder in order to make a Anger Birds movie happen. Angry Birds is set to launch into theaters some time in 2016.

Now moving on to a topic that does intrigue me. They are making a Assassins Creed movie. This movie does have a story line that would make sense in movie form and the characters talk! That is a very important part to a movie. Starring in the film is Michael Fassbender. Of course he is Magneto in X-Men First Class and the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past. Michael Fassbender is the only news to this film other then Michael Lesslie might be the writer. I have no idea who he is but, he has written 3 short films. Assassins Creed has been announced to come out on May 22, 2015.

The Wolverine Trailer #2 review

Yesterday when I posted my top 10 most anticipated films of the year I put The Wolverine at number 6. I wish this trailer came out before I published it. This trailer made my anticipation for this film jump threw the roof. I said if they decide to make a Wolverine stand alone film they need to make it right. You can obviously tell that they made it right. They made it so Logan (the real name for The Wolverine)and The Wolverine are going through the same trials. Iron Man 3 made it so Tony Stark and Iron Man experienced different things and I didn't like that. But in this film Logan and The Wolverine will experience the same thing and I'm happy about that. In an interview a little while ago, Hugh Jackman (the actor who plays Wolverine) stated "This is The Wolverine ever one has been waiting to see." In my opinion every other film with The Wolverine has been the Wolverine I wanted to see. Just imagine how good he is going to be this time around. The basic plot for this film is "In modern day Japan, Wolverine is out of his depth in an unknown world as he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before." Wolverine in Japan sounds totally epic. In this trailer you see Wolverine fighting a whole heck of a lot of Ninjas. And you get a better look at The Silver Samurai!!! He is the "ultimate nemesis" at least I hope he will be. But what really intrigues me about this is Wolverine is now "vulnerable" which means he doesn't have his mutant power to heal at superhuman speed, but he will emerge more powerful then ever. Watch the trailer for your self and freak out about how amazing this is.

Top 10 Most Anticipated Summer Films

With Oblivion, Iron Man 3, and Star Trek: Into Darkness starting off the year of summer blockbusters I've decided to count down my top 10 most anticipated films of this summer.
 10. The Lone Ranger
I honestly do not know a lot about The Lone Ranger. It has been around sense 1933 first appearing as a radio show. And we have not seen a good version of the story sense the 1949 T.V. series. Yes there have been different movies but no one has heard of them. This year celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Lone Ranger from first appearing in his radio show. Because I don't know a lot about The Lone Ranger my anticipation is not that high. But with 80 years of source material, I feel like Disney will do a excellent job with this film. And what can be better then someone bringing justice to the old wild west.

9. Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters
I'm a huge fan of the book series. It is my very favorite book series of all time. So you might ask yourself "Why don't you have this higher on your list?" The answer to that is I was extremely disappointed from the first film. Don't get me wrong I still really enjoyed the film. It was just not what I was hoping. The movie didn't even have the main villain that was in the book! But I'm still a loyal fan and will be one of the many people in line to see this movie. That is  what makes this deserve the number 9 spot.

8. The Internship
A movie about 2 friends (played by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson)who are 2 salesman who just got fired from there job because of the "Digital Age." They wind up at Google where they must compete with a bunch of geniuses for a shot at employment. This seems like a perfect plot for a witty comedy. Especially with Shawn Levy directing (Night at the Museum) and with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn I can't see where this film can go wrong.

7. After Earth
You can tell this a new big thing in movies. People coming back to Earth after a huge evacuation. But unlike Oblivion this seems like it is exciting! Stuff is actually on Earth to help the movie go along. And with Will and Jaden Smith, the acting is going to be phenomenal. And with a strong script (At least that's what it looks like) this movie will be one of the better ones of the year.

6. The Wolverine
I'm a big superhero geek. A superhero fanatic. And I was disappointed with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wolverine is a character that if you want to do, you have to do it right. The first one didn't execute the full potential of the character. But this one has to. Fox (The studio that owns the right to the X-Men universe) has a lot of pressure on them to make the movie going audience really enjoy this film so they will get more hyped up about X-Men: Days of Future Past. So because of that reason I feel like Fox put their best effort into it. Making it the number 6 spot on my list

5.  Pacific Rim
Let me tell you 2 of my favorite things. Big robots and aliens. Both of those things in this film about Aliens threatening Earth so big giant robots piloted by humans try to defend their Planet Earth. This plot sounds amazing. And robots and aliens fighting each other! Just give me 2 hours of that! You can tell this probably won't have a strong plot. But the main concept they are advertising is enough to make me go see it.

4. Monsters University
Putting this in front of the other films on this list might make you to believe that I'm crazy. Let me tell you this, you are the crazy one if you don't have this in your top 5. Monsters Inc. is by far my favorite Pixar film. Pixar mad the right move by releasing Monsters University right now. The kids who grew up with the first Monsters Inc. are now going in to college. I may have to clear up that Monsters University is a prequel to Monsters Inc. Sure you can tell from the trailer it has a plot that people of all ages will enjoy. It's Pixar and they can't go wrong. BUT GIVE ME A INCREDIBLES SEQUEL ALREADY!
Here is a link to the Monsters University trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onZe3gOhWkQ
3. Despicable Me 2
You are also crazy if your not looking forward to this movie. This is probably my favorite animated movie of all time. It is the perfectly family movie. The minions are by far the best part of the film. This movie seems like it has a legit plot. The minions will fit perfectly into this movie. So excited for it.
2. Now You See Me
In a way this is sort of like a modern day Robin Hood. 4 street magicians decided to team up to become the next big thing in magic. But during there shows they rob banks and reward their audience with that money. What can be cooler! Magicians robbing a bank! This even if it is a terrible movie will be one of my favorites of the year.

Here is the opening scene to Now You See Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_diRgwPCS8
1. Man of Steel
After the Dark Knight Trilogy and The Green Lantern (A joke of a film)Warner Brothers has some space to fill with their rights to superhero movies. The last Superman movie Superman Returns (2006) which made 200 million at the box office was not the right way to do it. But Man of Steel. You can already tell this is the way of doing things. Man of steel has that little darker tone (After all it is produced by Christopher Nolan) that I think is a good way to start of a Superman franchise with Zod as the villain. The pressure is on Warner Brothers. Depending on how this film does, depends if we will see a Justice League film or not. This film deserves the number one slot on my list by a long ways.

Thor 2 Poster and Trailer Review

I bet you have all seen the teaser trailer and the poster for Thor: The Dark World by now. If you haven't I am going to talk about it now. I'm am going to discuss what I like and dislike about each item.
The Poster
This seems like a fan made poster. It seems like they just took Thor's main element of his character (God of Thunder) and magnified it to make us know who he really is. We know who he is. We have seen the first Thor and the Avengers. We don't need any more introduction of Thor. It would have been better of showing us the main conflict of the movie and the other characters. Granted that it will come later on in another poster, I still would've liked to seen the first poster get us a little more excited for the movie. My favorite part of the poster is where it says Tom Hiddleston. After the Avengers I was not sure where they would go with his character Loki. Beside Iron Man,  he was my favorite character in the movie. He does so well. But we all should be happy that Tom Hiddlestion is having a semi-big part in this film.
Thor: The Dark World (2013) Poster
 The Trailer
This is amazing. It shows a glimpse of Christopher Eccleston as Malekith and some of the other Dark Elves. It definitely sets the mood for Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (The MCU)  which is a little darker tone then Phase 1 which was a more fun action comedic tone. Thor was by far the best Pre-Avenger film.  But the disappointment of Iron Man 3 I'm not as excited to see darker side of Marvel. But of course it was going to have to happen sometime. But I trust Kevin Feige (the President of Production at Marvel) and where he is gonna go with the MCU. I will be first in line to see Thor 2 for sure.

Iron Man 3 Review

IRON MAN 3
The latest installment of Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU) as well as the last Iron Man movie Iron Man 3 came out over the weekend. Before you go to the movie you have to understand this is more of a Tony Stark film then a Iron Man film. That is one of the many things I liked about this film. Robert Downey Jr was born to play this role. I believe that Stan Lee even said when he was writing Iron Man RDJ is exactly who he had in mind. Along with RDJ the acting was incredible.  Don Cheadle, Gwyenth Paltrow, Ben Kingsly, Guy Pearce, definitely showed their full talent in this film. If they were standing next to me right now the would be Iron Man or Colonel Rhodes not their actor. Now I just wanted to clear up that I know for a fact that this fantastic group of actors/actresses did wonderful. But the story of this film was disappointing. It had many plot holes you didn't know what was going on half the time. I wanted to get the story really bad I just couldn't. It also seemed that they put little parts that were unnecessary into the film to make it a cool action movie. And it was! Just it seemed to me that they either had way to little, or way to much. They never had the perfect balance to make this movie enjoyable. I was confused or overwhelmed the whole movie. Never had the chance to enjoy. And the story it's self that parts that I did get made me mad. Make a good part of the movie that we can understand!!! But Tony Stark's latest Iron Man technology is one of the FEW parts I enjoyed.
I guess coming after the Avengers (The best comic book movie of all time) and having Tony Stark/Iron Man be my favorite character in that movie I had to high of hopes. My hopes were let down. But the goal of this film was for the audience to see Tony Stark's character development throughout all of his trials. And the film definitely reached their goal I was not happy the way the achieved it.
If you have seen this film and you completely disagree with my review that is the great thing about film. Everything about it is about opinion. You have your opinions and I have mine

I rate this film a 7/10 or a B-.

The trailers were misleading and I wanted the Iron Patriot to have a bigger role.
