MARVEL STUDIOS SUCCESS

You better know that comic-book movies are all the rage right now. They are making the most money and are usually the best all around film. But the studio who has mastered the formula is obviously MARVEL studios. What is the formula? The secret is plan  a head. In 2010 President of Consumer Products for MARVEL said he has the master list for their movies planed out as far as 2017 and they were going to tagline it around the phrase "Avengers Assemble." Since that time Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, and most recently Iron Man 3 have all come out. You can tell there plann has been working because Avengers is the 3rd highest grossing film right infront of Iron Man 3.
Kevin Feige recently sat down with WIRED and Kevin (the president of production at MARVEL) told them "I could arguably say that we're planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I dont know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening." Moving forward, they want us to establish relationships with the new characters other than the core 5 we have right now. Kevin later stated that "Five years ago, looking ar our plan, we knew that if Avengers was going to work, the movies had to stand alone. Now we have to prove to the studio that we're more than just theses five characters, these five franchises." And it seems like that they have stuck to their word because we are going to see a Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1st, 2014 and Ant-Man on November 6th, 2015.
You can tell Marvel has lots of confidence in their films because Captain America:The Winter Soldier comes out on April 4th, 2014. This film comes out really close to 2 other superhero films. X-Men days of Future Past which comes out on May 23rd, 2014 and The Amazing Spiderman 2 on May 2nd, 2014. Lets see if Marvels success can continue. The first Amazing Spider-man made $752million dollars world wide, Captain America made $368million, and X-Men:First Class made $353millon. Comment down below if you think The Amazing Spider-man franchise will continue its reign or will Marvel dominate the spring with Captain America:The Winter Soldier. Comment down below your 2014 spring movie winner.
Feige has been recorded many times this year saying that the studio needs to keep crafting movies that are different. He is sticking to that word because in the future we will see a Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man and Dr.Strange coming in the near future. I just wonder what they are going to do through 2021. Im really hoping for a Black Panther. After all he is one of the founding Avengers and the "theme" for Marvels movies is "Avengers Assemble." Comment down below which film you would like to see before 2021. I really dont think it will end then.

Percy Jackson:Sea of Monsters review

The latest installment in the Pecy Jackson series The Sea of Monsters came out. This movie fallows Pecy Jackson a demi-god (half god half human) on a quest to save his beloved home Camp Half Blood, the only place in the world where Demi-gods are save. But when the wall that protects the camp is broken every Demi-god is in danger.  Then they figured out they need to retrieve the golden fleece from the Sea of Monsters (or the Bermuda Triangle. ) So Mr.D sent out Clarisse to lead a quest towards The Sea of Monsters. But Percy is not on this quest. Later on Percy figures out that there is a prophecy about him. Then he leads his own quest to The Sea of Monsters with his friend Annabeth, his satyr friend Grover, and his new cyclops brother Tyson. But when Grover gets captured there quest not only is to get the Golden Fleece before Luke (who wants to unleash Kronos) but to save Grover.
I love the Percy Jackson books. And I completely have forgotten what happens in the 2nd book. So I didn't re-read it so I didnt compare the movie to the book like I did with the first one. You don't need to read the book before you see the movie!
Ok. Lets start off with the few negatives this film has. Let's move on to the positives.
Now let's talk about how genius this film is. Lets start off with the little things. The music was great. For every scene it was appropriate. The director did a really good job for picking the songs/music to set the mood. They way the film started was awesome. It explains to you the whole demigod and camp half blood thing so you can understand the film with out reading the books. Then there is a flashback to make you understand even more. But when it comes to the present day the movie starts off how I like every movie to start. Action. And even better the chemistry between the characters! The first real thing that stands out is the chemistry between Percy and Clarisse. The real rivalry between the 2. And then between Tyson and Percy. I love it when you can feel what the characters are going through.  They did an excellent job casting. The new characters they brought in we awesome. The played the characters exactly like they should've by making the main and important characteristics of each of them to stand out. The story was creative. The way the director made it so the main points of the book are the main parts of the movie was pure awesome.
Over all this film is one of my favorite of the year. It is fun and they did a good job for making this enjoyable for Percy Jackson and non Percy Jackson fans. Over all I give this film a A, a 4.7 or a 9.5.

SUPERMAN VS..........

Lets continue on the Comic-Con news. Lets talk about the Man of Steel sequel. I want you to think about the 2 biggest comic-book characters ever. I don't know about you but I automatically think of Superman and Batman. So guess what I'm going to say next. The Man of Steel sequel is going to be Superman VS nanananananananaBATMAN!
This is my favorite news that was released at Comic-Con. Way better then any thing Marvel released (saying that they didn't release that much.) But Warner Brothers/DC kicked it out of the park with one announcement. Zack Snyder said he was going to release some news about the Man of Steel sequel. First off he said they are making one with Snyder directing again. And then he announced that Amy Adams is returning as Lois Lane. But the best part was a Superman Vs Batman movie.
There has been no news about if the actual title of the Man of Steel will be Man of Steel 2:Superman Vs. Batman or if it will just be called Superman Vs. Batman. I would prefer just calling Superman Vs. Batman. But what does this mean for Warner Brothers and their DC comic properties? It tells us that they have a lot of confidence of what they own the rights to. But I think this is the perfect move. There were talks about a Justice League movie coming in 2015 (When the Superman Vs. Batman comes out) but I was thinking "Why don't they just start of with a Batman/Superman movie? Have a movie with your 2 most popular franchises and see how the audience reacts to that?" And sure enough they did. The Batman movies and Man of Steel are two of the most successful movies of all time. So just imagine how big this movie will be with both of them in it! If Warner Brothers does this right, it will be the highest grossing movie of all time. And if this movie sucks (which it won't) Warner Brothers is doomed. Warner Brothers should take a break from their properties for 10 years if this fails. It would be a mega embarrassment to them if this movie with so much potential fails.
Now what does it take for this movie not to fail? Well, this might sound like a bad idea at first but have no villain. Have Batman be the "villain". Batman can feel like he needs to get rid of Superman because he is a threat. Just think about having Batman be the "villain". The next think is a must. Kryptonite. How else can Batman oppose as a threat? Superman can just flick Batman and he will die. So there needs to be kryptonite if we want to see a 2 hour movie instead of a 30 minute movie. But that biggest question to follow this news is WHO WILL PLAY BATMAN? Comment down below on who you would want!

Avengers 2 Gets a Title

The 2013 San Diego Comic-Con is happening this weekend. There has been major news in the world of movies. It would be impossible to talk about everything that has happened. So today I will be talking about the news that is circling Avengers 2.
In the Thor:The Dark World/Captain America:The Winter Soldier panel Joss Wheadon (The director of the first Avengers) came out towards the end of the panel and he announced that the subtitle to The Avengers 2 will be Avengers 2:Age of Ultron.
Ultron is robot created by Dr.Henry Pym (A.K.A. Ant Man.) Pym was starting to experiment with artificial intelligence by programming the robot with putting his own brain patterns in the heart and soul of the robot. The robot not only inherited Pym's intellect but his mental instability. But the problem was he didn't inherit human conscience. But surprise surprise, when Pym activated the robot he got installed with a hatred for Henry Pym himself and the human race in which he represented. Ultron (the robot) mesmerized Henry in to forgetting and leaving his New Jersey lab (where Ultron was created)and never to return. Then Ultron kept coming back and rebuilding him self to make advancements to his body. Ultron sounds pretty close to Iron Man in my opinion but a man needs to be in a suit in order for Iron Man to work. Ultron's powers are what you would expect. He has developed self-awareness, intelligence, and an extreme hatred for his "father" Henry Pym. His other powers vary with each redesign. Each redesigns typically include superhuman strength and durability, the power of flight, and various weapons offensive weapons like his latter-ray which allows him to mesmerize and mind control his victims. It sounds very similar to Iron Man.
Enough with the history lesson, lets talk about how this will affect the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most people were thinking of Thanos being the Avengers 2 villain. But clearly this says different. Ultron is obviously going to play the major villain role in Avengers 2. Thanos might still be in it but he probably wont have a big part. But this move of putting Ultron in Avengers 2 will have to force somethings. You will absolutely have to put Ant-Man into this film. You can't have Ultron with out Henry Pym/Ant-Man! Ant-Man is the film directly after Avengers:Age of Ultron. So if they do put Ant-Man in the Avengers 2 that is genius. Most of the current movie going audience thinks the name of an Ant-Man movie sounds stupid. But of course I'm excited because I love comics and Ant-Man is one awesome character. That being said putting a character like Ant-Man in the Avengers sequel will get the audience used to him. What part he will have in it, I have no idea. Maybe Ant-Man wont make an appearance just Henry Pym will be in it. Like a Bruce Banner role in the Avengers. The guy Nick Fury puts in charge for research. Or the first time we will see Henry Pym will be in the Ant-Man suit. But I would've much rather seen a Ultron in the Ant-Man stand alone film so we could see the relation ship between Ultron and Ant-Man develop more. This also means Thanos will most likely be the main villian in Avengers 3.
There has been no news on who will play Ultron or Henry Pym/Ant-Man or how or if they would use Ant-Man in Avengers:Age of Ultron. Comment on if you think Ant-Man belongs in Avengers 2 and who you would like to play Ulton or Ant-Man.

Pacific Rim Top 5 Friday

My #5 most anticipated summer film Pacific Rim came out last week. So I'm going to try something new. If you are a fan of this leave it in the comments. I'm going to do my review of Pacific Rim for Top 5 Friday. The top 5 things I loved about this film.
It's Everything a Summer Block Buster should be.
Yes. Technically every thing that comes out in the summer is called a summer block buster. But this one advances every ones thoughts of a blockbuster. A movie filled of action. A fun movie that is fun for all ages. People who like action, comedy, a nice strong plot. Everything a summer blockbuster has.
Charlie Day
When I saw Charlie Day was cast I was thinking that he can't be in a serious movie. It won't work! So they put Charlie Day in a comedic role. I don't want to call him the comedic relief but the comedic break. There was really 1 main plot and a mini side plot in which Charlie day was in. Charlie Day played a doctor by the name of Dr.Newton Geiszler. That name should make you think he is the funny one. His part of the story is he is trying to figure out how the aliens are getting from the depths of the ocean to the earth and how people can stop it. He is witty and makes you laugh in what every scenario he is in.
Cinematography/Visual effects
I'm telling you right now. If Pacific Rim is not nominated for the best visual effects and/or cinematography, I will be absolutely furious. The main focus of this film are the big robots and the big aliens. They made it look great! They spent lots of time making sure every last detail of both of them looked perfect. I could see every last penny of their 190mil the spent making this film. The fight scenes were awesome. They zoomed up on the robots so you could tell who is throwing the punch and understand the robots. The robots looked human. They walk just like we walk. To make it look that real and cool is outstanding.
Who was the Main character?
You might think of this as a bad thing. Its not. You really couldn't tell who was the main character. At some points you though Idris Elba was the character the film focused on. Other points you though Charlie Hunnam was the character they wanted to focus on, even Charlie Day in his parts seemed like the movie was just about him. That means that the character development was excellent. It made you feel for the characters.
It's Pacific Rim
This movie was all around awesome. I even forgot to mention the music. Its my number 3 film of the year so far. (Behind Man of Steel and Star Trek:Into Darkness.) If your trying to find a good summer blockbuster to go to, go to this one. I rate it a  7/10.

Remember to comment if you would like me to do some more movie reviews in Top 5 format.  And remember to check back daily.

Top 5: Need to Think Twice Movies

Top 5 Friday continues with movies that make you think twice.
                    5.The Twilight Saga
It makes you think twice about even watching it in the first place.
                    4.Toy Story 3
This makes you re-evaluate life.  Shouldve Andy given away the toys? Should he have taken all the toys to college and not only  Woody? Would things have changed if he kept all his toys, or if he stuffed all of them in the attic. What if Woody was a complete jerk and didnt care about his friends? Think twice about how the story couldve happend.
                    3.The Illusionist
Overall this is a fantastic film. You are in the eyes of the police man (Played by Paul Giamatti. Another reason to see this film) trying to figure out what the heck is going on. You are the police. If the police gets confused, your confused. If he gets a clue you do. It plays out as a mystery. It is a very simple but complex. It makes you feel stupid that you didnt get it once they reveal it at the end. But they didn't reveal everything so you need to think twice about how it needed to happen in order for it to make sense and go along with the other parts of the story.
                  2.Ocean's Twelve
So many twist and turns. Im not joking when I say that every little detail makes you think. You get very involed in everything. When your heavily involved you need to think twice. The groups goal is to rob precious artifacts and/or money. Every part of their mastet mind plan makes you think twice.
                    1.The Prestiege
You knew this film was going to make you think twice once you hear Christopher Nolan directed it. You have to let your mind and your imagination have no limits. You think you know what they did and how they did it. And who.  I can't say anymore without spoiling it.  Go out and watch it as soon as possible.

World War Z Review

World War Z
Brad Pitt's latest film World War Z was a pleasant surprise. When Gerry (Pitt's Character) and his family are sitting in their home just relaxing like every other family likes to do on a weekend morning. They decide to go on a vacation but on the way something happens. They find themselves in the middle of what we think is a zombie apocalypse. No one knows what it is but zombies are every where. Yes that is what the "Z" stands for. But Gerry, his wife, and his 2 girls make it to safety on a aircraft carrier somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean. The military recruit Gerry to go help them find what started this zombie apocalypse type thing and to see if there is a way to stop it.
Now, I just gave you a simple plot summary because I don't want to spoil anything for you. This story is deep. It goes in depth. It's not just another zombie film. It's a film that really stands out. The story is nothing like you have seen before. The best part that I liked about this film were the zombies. The zombies are are not like any other zombie we have ever seen. They are very realistic. These zombies can run. They run faster than the humans which makes you sit on the edge of your seat the whole film. You actually believe that they are a threat to the other humans. The zombies were very well done in World War Z. This was one of the many great things about it. The pacing is something that can go either way for the bad, or for the good. At times it seemed like it dragged on especially when there was no action. But the parts with the action out weighed the parts with no action. The action was the story. The action is what carried this film. Not only the zombie's made the action, but Brad Pitt as well. Spectacular performance on his part.
Over all this movie was an awesome 115 min of pure greatness.  Not only did they focus on the action, but they made the action balance out the story perfectly. The action was the story.  The only thing that bugged me was Brad Pitt's hair. A good time in the theater. I give this film a 4.7/5. A 9/10 or a high A-.
